Frequently Asked Questions
-- DVS
Question:
What does SPEEDS mean with
your product?
Answer:
When we refer to SPEEDS, we are
talking about the bandwidth or amount of data encoded into a
single stream, or the amount of data a user can view with his
internet connection. Most users with a DIAL UP or Phone connection
to the internet get SPEEDS of 14K to 52K. One of the biggest
problems for those users is KNOWING what speed they are truly able
to SUSTAIN, not connected at, but what can they SUSTAIN. One must
keep in mind that
streaming video is a constant flow of information and your
connection speed may vary from moment to moment.
Question:
How many SPEEDS can I stream
or broadcast using DVS.
Answer:
DVS can produce 4 streams at the same time. These stream can be
any combination of Windows Media Encoder and/or Real Producer at
speeds from 19k to 3,000k.
Question:
Does DVS produce Microsoft
or Windows Media streams?
Answer:

any combination of Windows Media Encoder and/or Real Producer at
speeds from 19k to 3,000k.
Question:
I can not see my video in
the PREVIEW screen... Why?
Answer:
The first step is to
make sure you video source is turned on and operational.
Secondly, make sure the Audio/Video Distribution Amplifier
is properly connected with the proper power supply and plugged
into a valid power source.
Thirdly, make sure the cables from the distribution amp are
connected to the 4 input cards of the DVS Computer.
If you have all of the above, AND you have already pressed the BROADCAST
button, you should have video.
Question:
Can I test each of my 4 streams on the same computer that I am
broadcasting from?
Answer:
Yes, the preview window is a
real stream. We have actually embedded Windows Media Player and
Real Player as the preview window. When you select preview, you
are looking at an actual stream. For more detailed testing of individual
streams, please contact us to discuss it.
Question:
What type of web connection do I need to do a webcast?
Answer:
This depends on the speeds or bandwidth you are going to stream.
For example, if you are doing the basic 4 speeds, 19k, 36k, 100k and 300k,
add these numbers up and add 25% for overhead. 454K + (454*.25) =
567k.
